In 2018 Energy Storage TCP observed a growing scientific and political interest in energy storage. This stimulates better conditions for deployment in various markets. In particular it is worth mentioning that the orientation on a more holistic approach towards the entire energy systems (and the interaction between use of electricity, heat, cooling a mobility), also referred to as “sector coupling” drives the need for more and improved storage solutions. Energy Storage TCP will start a new Annex in 2019 to address this topic. The need for improving various simulation and calculation models will also be addressed by IEA Energy Storage TCP by a new Annex in 2019.
